Natural Stone Is In

Natural stone is still on trend and continues to be a very popular material used not just in living areas but in bathroom spaces as well. There are many different natural stones to choose from including marble, granite, quartzite, bluestone, sandstone etc.

These natural stones are available in a range of finishes and can be used in various features such as countertops, flooring, accent walls as well as ledges and shelves etc. Natural stone basins and mirror surrounds are now in vogue too.

Coloured marble trays and accessories are being used to complete a luxury bathroom look.

Terrazzo Is BACK

Aside from natural stone, Italian terrazzo is making a serious come-back. Echoing mid-century styling, terrazzo is proving to be a stylish choice in many upscale homes, adding a dash of personality. It is also extremely robust and resilient, making it the perfect choice for family bathrooms.

The Style Quotient

In 2018, minimalism was popular, but in 2019, the focus has changed to more decorative touches and traditional finishes. While this may not seem like an obvious choice for modern style homes, many contemporary bathrooms now sport decorative and statement fixtures and tiles in unique patterns and shapes. The more ornamental pieces perfectly suiting more traditional style bathrooms.

Veering Towards Green

Natural elements, materials and colours are extremely popular and in keeping with this theme, green has emerged as a key colour trend and is being used in various hues and shades for  bathroom renovations. Subtle green tones look amazing when teamed with neutral bath linens.

Bathrooms are generally small spaces, and a certain amount of colour will help lend some depth.  Darker shades of green can be added to give the eye some space to settle.

For fittings and fixtures in your custom bathroom, gold, black and burnished brass are trending and work effectively with subtle colour palettes.

Smart Technology

Many people now include smart technology in various areas of the home, and in 2019, bathroom spaces aren't being left behind. Many homeowners are opting for smart lighting and plumbing fixtures and are embracing the use of voice control or smart connected devices to adjust everything from mood lighting to the water temperature.
