The Client Brief

We were delighted when our client engaged us to complete her kitchen renovation project in Alexandria, Sydney. Her current kitchen was cramped and separated from her living area by a wall. Only one point of entry to the kitchen hindered movement in and out of the space. Our client wanted a more open-plan layout that allowed her to be more connected to adjoining living areas. 

The Challenge

To increase the size and functionality of the new kitchen and keep a balanced floor ratio between the new kitchen footprint and neighouring living areas. 

The Design Solution

The first step was removing the separating wall that divided the kitchen and living spaces. This helped create the illusion of a larger overall living space. An island was installed in the new kitchen design with a strategically placed wash zone to allow enough room for food prep and casual dining. A concealed rangehood and integrated appliances created a seamless look and were in keeping with the client's overall home style. 

The Result

A sophisticated and elegant kitchen renovation, optimised for functionality, open and airy, is the home's centrepiece. The new layout allows for easy movement in and out of the kitchen with two exit and entry points. Reflected light bouncing off the mirror splashback balances out the dark kitchen tones and further helps to support the illusion of more space. Our client loves working in her new kitchen every day.
