The Client Brief

Our clients needed to renovate their home including kitchen, laundry, bathroom, and living areas. The brief included a simple contemporary look that incoporated timber features. The current kitchen was hidden behind dividing walls, and seperated from the key living areas in the home. The kitchen layout was outdated and impractical. They needed a new open plan home concept including kitchen, bathroom, laundry and joinery; rooms that worked togerther to form an open and more spacious living.

The Challenge

The current kitchen was enclosed behind several walls, and made the home feel small and uninviting. We needed to create a complete open plan concept for the kitchen, and adjacent living areas; a 'great room' that was spacious and offered integrated living. The challenge for this project was to balance functionality with the clients' need for more space. 

The Design Solution

Removal of three key walls not only opened up the living area but helped create the illusion of space. Skylights were introduced to allow more natural light into the living area.  For the kitchen design, a wall of white was created at the rear of the kitchen and dedicated to cooking - oven, pantry and fridge. All white push to open cabinetry helped to lighten the space and create a sense of openess. Dark, wood toned laminate was used on base cabinetry to anchor the kitchen and introduce the timber feel our client desired. Opting for handless kitchen joinery, futher enhanced the minimalist look of this contemporary home renovation project. Wood tones and white cabintery was used throughout the home, for a cohesive look throughout. 

The Result

A fully renvovated home with new kitchen, bathroom and joinery solutions that provided our client with a simple, contemporary and timeless look throughout. This newly renovated home including kitchen, bathroom, hide-away laundry and custom joinery now boasts the ultimate in modern functionality, expansive open living spaces, that are cohesive with plentry of storage.
