The Client Brief

A gorgeous cottage in Maroubra Sydney needed a traditional kitchen renovation with colour. Our clients' existing kitchen was outdated, dark, cramped, low on storage space and did not reflect our clients' taste. The brief also included a pop of their favourite colour, blue, and a more traditonal feel.

The Challenge

This quaint cottage by the sea, included a smaller than average kitchen area, so it was important we created a kitchen layout that maximised floor space and storage capacity, whilst meeting our client's need for openess and colour.

The Design Solution

Taking advantage of the high ceilings in this period home allowed the Balnei & Colina design team to create custom wall to ceiling cabintery, that tripled our clients' storage capacity. We created an appliance wall dedicated to cooking and food storage, and replaced wall cabinets on the south side with floating shelves, creating a feeling of openess and space withnin the kitchen room, as well as helping to provide extra counterspace for food preparation. The cabinets were painted in British Paints North Blue, delivering the bright blue kitchen our clients wanted. 

The Result

A traditional charmer, this kitchen renovation has resulted in a smart functional kitchen. Painted in British Paints North Blue, our clients' now have the kitchen they always dreamed of, easy to work in with plenty of storage and ample counterspace for preparing meals. ​
