The Client Brief

Imagine stepping into a space that feels like it was tailor-made just for you! Our client’s kitchen and laundry areas were tired and cramped, lacking the vibrancy of modern living. She envisioned a transformation that would give her a balance of space and cozy charm while staying true to the classic style of her Paddington Terrace. She wanted her new kitchen and laundry design to maximise every inch of her compact rooms.

The Challenge

Navigating the intricacies of small rooms can be challenging, but we were up for it! How do you breathe new life into spaces that beg for more? The goal was clear: create a layout that not only enhances functionality but also preserves the heritage style that makes our client's home truly special. It was time to turn constraints into creativity!

The Design Solution

With our client’s dreams as our compass, we got creative! We took the leap and merged the laundry and kitchen into a fabulous galley-style masterpiece. Out with the old walls and in with an open, airy vibe! By reducing the laundry’s footprint, we expanded the kitchen, giving our client more storage, counter space, and a delightful workflow that makes cooking a breeze.

A sleek, European-style laundry was introduced that is fully functional when needed but can be hidden away out of sight when not in use. To honour the home’s traditional roots, we crafted a stunning provincial-style hood paired beautifully with shaker doors and a sophisticated lambs tongue profile finish on the counters. The soft mint green blended with white and brass accents infuses the space with charm and elegance! We also installed new flooring throughout, which finished off the project perfectly. 

The Result

A breathtaking kitchen that feels both timeless and fresh, equipped with all the modern conveniences our client could wish for! Whether whipping up a gourmet meal or tackling laundry, her new space provides the perfect canvas for creating meals and everyday living. Functional, beautiful, and bursting with personality, this kitchen and laundry room transformation is nothing short of a dream come true for our wonderful Paddington client. We couldn't be happier for her.

"Despite making several substantial changes during the design stage, Robert of Balnei & Colina worked with me to ensure the process was as seamless and easy as possible. When the construction phase started, which included the demolition of walls, ceiling and the building up of a completely new floor, I was pleasantly surprised at the professionalism and care that each team member exhibited as the project progressed. They were also very considerate of the fact that I was living in the house during construction.

The project started and, most importantly, finished on time in accordance with the timeline - 10 days before Christmas! The finished project exceeded even my very high expectations. I now have a new kitchen that has provided me with everything I wanted, considering the restricted space to work within.

The quality of the work throughout is superb, and the finishes are beautiful. The design, with every modern aspect, also pays a gentle homage to my 120-year-old home. My family and friends have all commented on the excellent craftsmanship and quality throughout.
