Kitchen Renovation

Project Description

The Client Brief

We love collaborating with Interior Designers and we were lucky enough work with John Neill who was commissioned to renovate a newly purchased apartment in Sydney’s Inner West. The client wanted to renovate his newly acquired apartment with the kitchen being the key focus. The existing single-line all-white kitchen was awkward and lacked basic cooking functionality. The client wanted a new kitchen space that was going to be both impactful and practical.

The Challenge

The kitchen floor space space was limited, so it was important to ensure that new kitchen design was in keeping with the clients personal style preference, without comprising functionality.

The Design Solution

John engaged the team at Balnei & Colina to help bring his clients' vision for his kitchen to life. The new kitchen design employed an L shape return extension to fully maximise the space allowing the new kitchen to open onto the living area. For extra storage, additional cabinetry was added beneath the front island beach, and a unique faux granite splashback was installed for impact and striking visual effect. This beautiful material was subtlety "book-matched" to the return splashback smoked mirror. The range hood was also sheathed in the same ‘granite’ look.

The Result

A stunning high rise kitchen renovation combining a smart use of space with beautiful design, form and function.
Neill explains: "Robert from Balnei & Colina respected & understood exactly where I was coming from professionally. Our collaboration resulted in an elegant, wonderfully achieved, design-driven outcome, valuing as I did, his sound input & intuitive suggestions as the design process developed. As a designer I relied upon & appreciated the way in which Robert & the team at Balnei & Colina then followed to make our joint planning a reality. My client is excitedly delighted with the concept brief for a high functioning kitchen with low visual disruption to his immediately-adjacent Luxe Sitting /Dining room having been completely exceeded."
